Exactly one year prior to my wedding, October 18, 2014, I went to my first store to try on wedding dresses with my mom and sisters at the White Dress by the Shore in Clinton, CT. Callie was there because it was a Modern Trousseau trunk show weekend. I, of course, did not know what Callie looked like at that time. When my mom and sisters arrived, the assistant who was doing my appointment was running late because she had just made a gown sale. We did not mind and just kept looking through and picking out dresses for me to try on. Finally, another woman offered to start my appointment for me. She asked me how I wanted to look on my wedding day and decided the order in which I would try things on. After trying on the first dress, she then stylized me and put a belt and veil on so I could get the full feel for how I would look. After trying on about 5 or 6 dresses, another woman came in to take over my appointment. She looked at me and said, wow, that is really amazing that you just got to work with her. The "her" was Callie. She had helped me in and out of dresses and never let on that she was the dress designer. Even more incredible is that I doubt every dress I had tried on was a Modern Trousseau dress and yet, she still put them on me and made sure I had an incredible experience.
I had seen another dress go into another girl's room and asked that I try it on. My assistant went to get it and I put it on and came out. At that moment, Callie reappeared, the owner of the shop came down, and her assistant on top of my sisters and mom all stood in awe. They then used fabric to cover up the studded belt on the dress and put another belt around me so I could see how it would look on me. That dress was the Bryton dress. I tried on a few more and then re-tried on some. I never expected to buy a dress at the first store I went to but I knew that the Bryton dress was my dress. After deciding on the dress, Callie then came in for my measurements to ensure they got a few special measurements for me because I am a petite person. The owner then found out it was exactly one year to the day of my wedding and her and Callie decided to custom make the dress to my proportions at no extra charge to me. Callie also spent a long time talking to my mom and sisters, which meant so much to them as well. I truly feel like my wedding dress buying experience was a fairy tale. This is how I started my wedding planning process which led up to the most perfect wedding day for me and my husband.
I know this is a long email but my story had to be shared and I needed to properly thank Callie for making me feel extraordinarily special that day. She set the tone for the rest of my wedding, which was beyond anything I could have imagined. My wedding dress encapsulated exactly how I wanted to look and feel on my wedding day which was timeless elegance. I felt so beautiful because I wore the dress of my dreams. I have already shared a picture on the website but here are a few more from our October 18, 2015 wedding at Trump Winery in Charlottesville, Virginia.
