Made for you, made in America
A couture alternative in the heart of Georgetown
Most bridal shops in Washington, D.C. are showrooms for other designers’ racks. Modern Trousseau is different. We are a design house — every gown you try on in our Georgetown salon is our own, and every gown we make is cut and hand-sewn for a single bride in our American atelier. When you fall in love with a dress here, you are not buying the sample; you are beginning your own.
That means the fit is built for you from the first measurement, not altered toward you from a stock size. It means the necklines, sleeves, trains and fabrics are yours to choose. And it means your wedding dress is made in the United States by the same hands that designed it — a level of craft, and of care, that has become rare in bridal.
For brides across Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia and Maryland who want something considered rather than off-the-rack, that difference is the whole point. It is why so many describe Modern Trousseau as the couture alternative in the DMV — the artistry of the designer names, made to measure, and made in America.

What Washington brides say.
Rated 4.5 stars by more than 150 brides on Google. A few of their words, exactly as they wrote them.
“Modern Trousseau Washington DC is a hidden gem! … I ended up getting a custom dress, which I fell in love with and didn’t want to take off on my wedding day. The entire process from start to finish was great. I would highly recommend this store to any DC brides.”
“After being in bridal salons full of screaming kids and scratchy dresses, Modern Trousseau was like an oasis. The Georgetown boutique is beautiful, clean and calm.”
“I had the most incredible experience at Modern Trousseau in Georgetown!! From the second I walked in, I knew I would find the perfect dress.”
“It is different than most bridal boutiques in that all dresses are from the same designer and because each is made to order, they are 100% customizable. … It is SO fun to design your dress as you go, and the team there has such a sharp eye for helping you think through options.”
“During my appointment, my mother and I had the entire boutique to ourselves (I think they book appointments intentionally so this is for every bride). This allowed us to have a very personalized experience, and I felt like the most important person in the room.”
“I cannot recommend Jas highly enough! If you want a designer who truly listens and makes the process feel like a collaboration with a friend, she is the one. I had a very specific vision in my head, and Jas expertly navigated fabrics and textures to bring it to life.”
Wisconsin Avenue, Georgetown
Finding the boutique
Our boutique sits at 1564 Wisconsin Avenue NW, in the heart of Georgetown — a short walk up from M Street, near the corner of Wisconsin and Q. Metered parking runs along Wisconsin Avenue, several public garages are within a few blocks, and many brides find a rideshare the easiest way in on a weekend.
Georgetown makes an easy day of it. Brides often pair a morning appointment with lunch on M Street, coffee along the canal, or an afternoon wandering the shops — reason enough to bring the people whose opinions you trust and make an occasion of choosing your wedding dress.
Questions, answered.
Do I need an appointment to visit your Georgetown bridal shop?
Yes — the salon is by private appointment, so the space is yours for the visit. Book online in minutes, or call (202) 803-0065.
What happens at a bridal appointment?
You will work one-on-one with a dedicated stylist who listens first. Gowns are pinned and fitted to you in the salon — silhouettes, laces, and veils together — and when you say yes, we take your measurements and your gown is cut and sewn for you alone in our American atelier.
Are your wedding dresses made to measure?
Every gown is bespoke — cut to your exact measurements, never off the rack, and hand-finished in our own American atelier. Necklines, sleeves, trains, and fabrics can all be customized.
How is Modern Trousseau different from other bridal shops in Washington, DC?
Most bridal shops are showrooms for outside designers’ sample racks. Modern Trousseau is a design house — every gown in our Georgetown salon is our own, and your dress is cut and hand-sewn to your measurements in our American atelier. You are not buying the sample; you are beginning your own gown.
How much do wedding dresses cost at Modern Trousseau?
Because every gown is made to measure, pricing depends on the design and the fabrics you choose. Your stylist will walk you through pricing during your appointment, so there are no surprises.
How far in advance should I order my wedding dress?
We recommend beginning about six to nine months before your wedding date, which allows time for your made-to-measure gown to be created and fitted. Shorter timelines can often be accommodated — just ask when you book.
Are fittings handled in-house?
Yes — fittings are part of the made-to-measure process. Your gown is built to your measurements from the first cut, and the final adjustments before your wedding are part of that same process, not an outside alterations bill.
Do you carry plus-size and curvy wedding dresses?
Yes. Because every gown is cut to your exact measurements, our collection is made for every body. Many brides begin with the Curvy Collection, which is designed to fit and flatter from the very first measurement.
How many wedding dresses will I try on?
There is no set number. Your stylist will pull the silhouettes that suit what you are looking for, and you are welcome to try as many as you like — the appointment is unhurried and entirely yours.
Do you offer alterations?
Because your gown is made to your measurements from the start, it arrives fitted to you rather than altered from a stock size. Final adjustments in the weeks before your wedding are part of the made-to-measure process.
